CHAMP CAR WORLD SERIES REVEALS TV DEAL

The Champ Car World Series has reached agreements with CBS Sports and NBC for the 2005 season.

It gives the open-wheel racing series an increased presence on network television in 2005.

CBS Sports will broadcast four consecutive events live beginning in June, while NBC will carry two events including the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach.

CBS Sports, which last broadcast Champ Car World Series races in 2003, will provide flag-to-flag coverage of four consecutive events beginning with the June 4 race in Milwaukee. Races in Portland (June 19), Cleveland (June 26) and Toronto (July 10) will also be shown on CBS Sports.

The Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach will be shown live on NBC on April 10 as the Champ Cars take to the streets of Southern California for one of the marquee events on schedule.

In addition, NBC will show the August 28 race from Montreal’s Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve. This season marks the first time that NBC has broadcast a Champ Car World Series race since 1994.

The television deal for the rest of the 2005 events will be announced in the coming weeks.
