NETBALL IN TV BREAKTHROUGH

Netball will be shown on Sky Sports for the first time next month, when England entertain South Africa in a three-match test series.

The series, which takes place between the teams ranked third and fourth in the world, will be screened from three venues: Newcastle Metro Radio Arena, Manchester Evening News Arena and Birmingham NIA in the first two weeks of December.

The sport boasts participation figures of more than one million people throughout England.

Codebreaker Sports Channel will provide the outside broadcast services and act as the sales agency for the Test Series.

Neal Coupland, managing director of Codebreaker Sports Channel, said: “Female sport has been traditionally under-represented on television and this broadcast deal, combined with the commercial strategy that England Netball has employed, is certain begin to bear fruit before long.”
