While addressing the ninth convocation of Manipur University Saturday India’s Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said: “We are hosting the 2010 Commonwealth Games and would like to bid for the 2016 Olympic Games.”
If India decides to bid for the 2016 Games it may have Thailand as a competitor, reports GamesBids.com
The Thai government is supporting the establishment of a fact-finding mission, which will look into whether or not it is feasible for Bangkok to bid for the 2016 Games.
But according to Thailand’s IOC member, Dr. Nat Intrapana, Thailand will adopt a “wait-and-see” approach first.
