PIRES FINED OVER LOGO

Arsenal soccer star Robert Pires will be fined after upsetting the French team sponsor Adidas by wearing a rival brand's logo.

The BBC reports that Pires was summoned to explain to French football chiefs why he sported a Puma sweater during a TV show in October, when he was with the national team.

French Football Federation chairman Claude Simonet said: "We have sent the case to the disciplinary committee.

"We will have a meeting with Adidas officials to estimate the amount of the fine Robert Pires will have to pay."

Pires apologised after the hearing in Paris and vowed not to make the same mistake again.
