Aroundtherings.com reports that bid CEO Feliciano Mayoral says the bid book reflects Madrid’s experience holding sports events.
He added that accommodation issues have been addressed by securing greater co-operation from the hotel industry and government to improve quality and quantity prior to the Olympics.
Mayoral also said the bid book reflects more scrutiny and planning for security.
The bid book also presents changes to venues for six sports from the original Madrid dossier. The venue shifts have been made to make for a more efficient operation.
The Madrid bid book says the plans for 2012 call for Games on a human scale, with overarching concern for environmental and sustainability issues.
“To this end, it will carry out permanent strategic environmental impact assessment and promote collective transport and universal accessibility on the part of all spectators to the Games venues, situated within a radius no greater than 10 kilometres to make it possible to celebrate a car-free Games,” says a statement from Madrid 2012.
