Members of Eddie O'Sullivan's squad are unhappy that fees and win bonuses have not changed since 1998 and lag behind many of their international rivals, reports Reuters.
IRFU and players' representatives are scheduled to meet on Friday.
In 2004 there was a dispute between the players and the union over tour fees just before the squad set off for a two-Test trip to South Africa.
When that was settled, the Irish RFU agreed to renegotiate match fees and win bonuses but players are unhappy with what they see as a lack of progress.
"We are not looking for huge money, just a reasonable increase," players' association chief Niall Woods told the Irish Times.
"Roy Keane earns more in two weeks than the majority of international players earn in a year, that is the reality of it."
Ireland captain Brian O'Driscoll said the matter had dragged on for too long.
"I would like to express the frustration within the squad at the delay in settling this issue," he said.
"The players, as a group, are 100 per cent behind our association on this issue."
Irish match fees are a basic 1,270 euros, rising to 5,080 euros if the team wins.
