SECOND FRENCH WORLD CUP RADIO DEAL

A second, non-exclusive agreement for the radio broadcasting rights to the 2006 FIFA World Cup has been announced with French national broadcaster Europe News SNC.

The agreement, announced by Infront Sports & Media, is for the French territory and includes both live and delayed rights for the opening, semi-final and final, all French national team matches and an additional 25 matches to be selected by Europe News.

This means that the broadcaster will be covering a minimum of 29 out of the 64 matches, plus all those involving France.

This is the second radio deal for France announced this year – the first was with RMC.

Europe News was an official radio broadcaster for the 2003 FIFA Confederations Cup that took place in France.

Oliver Seibert, an executive director of Infront, said: “We are really pleased at the interest shown in the 2006 event by radio broadcasters - it is an on-going success story and one which reaffirms how the FIFA World Cup creates many different audiences who want lots of opportunities to follow the event in the medium of their choice.”
