The Empire State Development Corporation is expected to lend its approval to the New York State share of the project, $300million, the same amount the city of New York will pay, reports aroundtherings.com
The overall cost of the stadium is pegged at $1.4 billion, with the New York Jets football club picking up the remaining bill.
While the Empire State Development approval is likely, the vote is not the last that will be taken before ground can be broken.
An environmental review will be released next week that covers expansion of a subway line and the Javits Convention Center, two projects linked to the stadium. Lawsuits from opponents of the stadium project are considered likely.
Mayor Michael Bloomberg has said that progress must be made on the stadium if New York City’s 2012 Olympic bid is to be taken seriously by the International Olympic Committee.
