PARIS BID HANDED GOVERNMENT BOOST

French Prime Minister Jean-Pierre Raffarin has signed an agreement for 2.5billion euros of state money to be used to help finance the 2012 Paris Olympic bid.

Paris, London, New York, Madrid and Moscow are bidding for the Games, with the International Olympic Committee announcing the winner on July 6.

IOC inspectors will make short three-day visits to each of the venues in February and March next year.

All the cities have until November 15 to hand their bids in to the IOC.
