Trevor Birch, considered by many the outstanding candidate for the role of Football Association chief executive, has said he is not interested in the post.
The UK’s Daily Telegraph reports that Birch contacted the FA to end his interest in the role following an interview with officials yesterday morning.
Birch, a former chief executive at Chelsea, Leeds United and Everton, is understood to be returning to a career in the City.
