Brussels has withdrawn from the race to host the 2009 World Athletics Championships due to financial difficulties, officials have announced.
The organisers were unable to obtain financial guarantees from government authorities to back up their bid, reports the BBC.
The International Association of Athletic Federations must now choose between Berlin, Valencia and Split.
The IAAF will meet in Helsinki, which will host the event next summer on December 4 to 5, to make its choice.
Cities to have already withdrawn bids include Brisbane, Casablanca, Daegu and New Delhi.
