GULF CUP HITS OIL

Qatar-based sports marketing organisation, Qatar Sports International (QSi), has signed ExxonMobil Qatar Inc. (EMQI) as a Gold Event Partner of the 17th Gulf Cup being held in Doha.

Under the agreement, the company - a subsidiary of US oil giant, Exxon Mobil Corporation - becomes QSi’s first Gold Partner for the December event, their first from the energy sector. It is also the first time that the two organisations have teamed up.

Exxon is believed to have been attracted by the access to key decision-makers in the energy-rich host country, Qatar, provided through the corporate hospitality elements of the event. They join new global airline, Etihad, which signed a seven-figure deal two weeks ago.

The 17th Gulf Cup tournament is the premier sporting event in the region. This year’s unique four-sports event is set to reach out to more than 85 million consumers in the eight participating nations.

QSi is the official rights marketing body and has appointed Al Jazeera Sports TV as official host broadcaster.
