ROGGE'S SPONSOR CONCERNS

Tagged in &

Organisers of the Turin 2006 Winter Games have been told to improve the promotion of the event in Italy – and boost its efforts to secure sponsorship.

Following a meeting with Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi and Turin 2006 chiefs, IOC president Jacques Rogge voiced concerns over the level of support from both the government and state-run companies, and the speed of preparations.
However, he also added the IOC has ‘full confidence the Turin Games will be a great success’.
The Italian government has appointed Mario Pescante – the former Italian Olympic Committee head – to supervise the planning of the Games.
