Lehmann, given a call-up in Germany’s 2-0 weekend win over Iran, appeared wearing Nike gloves – a move which left adidas chiefs fuming; they pay an estimated EUR8m a year to be the national team’s official kit provider.
Now Lehmann has been told if he wears his Nike gloves again he will be dropped.
Said a spokesman for the German soccer federation: “The DFB's position is very clear on this issue. Anyone who wants to play for the national team has to wear adidas or else will lose the right to be selected.”
