FA REVEALS APPOINTMENTS

The Football Association has announced the appointment of Stuart Turner as head of broadcast and new media.

Turner joins the FA from BSkyB where he was business development manager and formerly with the Sports Internet Group.

The FA says the new position has been established to deliver and develop strong lines of communication and pro-active commercial interaction with The FA's key broadcast partners, both domestic and international.

The role involves the development of narrowband and broadband revenue streams and the commercialisation of both mobile and data rights.

The FA commercial team is further bolstered by the appointment of James Elliott as broadcast manager. He moves from Puma and before that IMG/TWI, where he worked in the football division.

The new structure also sees Rhys Beer become media manager.

The appointments are designed to develop stronger relationships with The FA's domestic broadcast partners (BBC and BSkyB) as well as forming key partnerships with overseas licensees and prospective new media partners.

The FA's group commercial director Jonathan Hill said: "Revenues from our broadcasting and new media activities over the next four years will be in excess of £350million and therefore it was felt essential that we had an appropriately resourced broadcast and new media department to nurture and develop these revenue streams. The commercialisation of mobile and data rights will be a key driver for much of our activity going forward.

"It's also essential that we service our broadcast partners, who are clearly extremely important to us. In addition to the BBC and BSkyB, we now contract directly with a range of regional broadcasters and platforms for our overseas rights, making it essential to put greater resources into this area."
