The BBC website reports that Mansell has teamed up with a company set up to help promote the race and improve facilities at Silverstone.
"For drivers Silverstone is one of the best circuits in the world," said Mansell.
"But some of the facilities are not as good as those at new, government-funded circuits like Shanghai. We are going to rectify this."
The company, Brand Synergy Ltd, is headed by motor-racing entrepreneur Kim Cockburn, former British Touring Car champion Robb Gravett and David Phipps, who has worked in F1 for more than 40 years.
The move follows the British Racing Drivers’ Club’s failure to find the £1.5million eventually asked for by F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone to stage the race at Silverstone.
“There is a deal on the boardroom table of the BRDC that is good for them, good for the fans and good for the long-term future of motor sport in this country," said Cockburn.
"I have agreed with Bernie to sign a seven-year licence and am confident that Silverstone will appear on the calendar for 2005 and the foreseeable future."
