IEC IN PORTUGUESE SOCCER DEAL

Tagged in , &

IEC in Sports has announced a two-year deal for the distribution of the Portuguese Super League Soccer Championships.

It will distribute the League in most of Europe, Asia and into further selected territories during 2004/5 and 2005/6.

This is the first time IEC in Sports has represented a soccer league from one of game’s strongest nations.

International television stations can choose from more than 130 live matches each season. In addition, IEC has teamed up with one of its longstanding production partners to commission “PortuGol”, a 48-minute weekly highlights show available to broadcasters from each of the championship’s 34 weeks.

Said Jonas Persson, CEO of IEC in Sports: “Over the past few years, we have increased our presence in international football with a series of summer tours, the popular Carlsberg Cup in Hong Kong and a number of World Cup qualifiers in Asia.”

The Portuguese Super League looks set to be a star-studded affair following the tremendous success of the country as a whole, thanks to Euro 2004B and the brilliant showing of FC Porto, who dominated European football last year by capturing the UEFA Champions LeagueB.

“The deal was agreed only a few weeks before the kick-off to the new season and we already have several new distribution arrangements in place for the league”, says Jonas Eriksson, director of sales at IEC in Sports.
