It will be promoting the race globally, focussing on countries entering teams and hosting stopovers.
GEM has worked with the first British America’s Cup Team for 14 years, GBR Challenge. In addition the GEM sailing division worked with Nautor Challenge on the inaugural Volvo Ocean Race and managed marketing campaigns for entries in the previous three Whitbread Round the World Races.
Associate director, Tom Webb, said: “This is a tremendous account for our sailing team and will enable us to use our overseas connections to deliver results globally in this key period building up to next year’s race”.
The Volvo Ocean Race starts from Galicia, Spain on 5 November 2005 and will take seven months. This will be the ninth staging of the round-the-world yacht race.
