FOOTBALL FOCUS FOR THE COMMUNITY

Tagged in &

A new UK charity has been launched to capitalise on the passion and power of football for the benefit of local communities.

Everton Football in the Community (EFITC) has been created to work with communities across the north-west, using football as a vehicle to inspire people regardless of circumstances.

EFITC is financially and administratively independent of Everton Football Club and has created a business operation, a charity, innovative community work and a formal association with a leading global sports brand.

EFITC offers many practical and awareness raising activities targeting many social agendas, including; homelessness, older people, disabled, crime prevention, unemployment, health, minority groups and education.

Commenting on the new charity, community business manager Dave Connor said: "EFITC is not all about football. We hope that by listening to the needs of the community, our combination of innovative community activities, coupled with a solid operational foundation, will enable the charity to grow substantially over the next few years.

"Our aim is to motivate, inspire and educate by harnessing the power of sport to improve the quality of life for all those within our community. We have created this unique proposition so that our expertise and enthusiasm can deliver truly philanthropic activities across Merseyside for the people of Merseyside."

EFITC will be officially launched on Wednesday, September 29.
