DICKIES BACK NASCAR

Texas Motor Speedway officials revealed that a Fort Worth-based company will be the primary sponsor for the track's second NASCAR Nextel Cup race.

Williamson-Dickie, maker of Dickies sportswear, signed a three-year deal with options for future years to sponsor the track's new race, reports ESPN.com

The first Dickies 500 will be November 6, 2005.

TMS president Eddie Gossage also said Fort Worth-based RadioShack and Samsung have agreed to a three-year renewal for their sponsorship of the spring race.

"This is a special moment for our sport when two successful corporations that are part of the fabric of America choose to build on the success of their own speedway," Gossage said.

TMS will also donate a 65-ft Douglas fir tree to be the official Christmas tree for the city of Fort Worth. The local group that provided the tree the past 48 years recently said it couldn't afford to do so this year.
