SKY SPORTS TO SCREEN HORSE OF THE YEAR SHOW

A deal with the British Show Jumping Association – in agreement with the show’s organisers Grandstand Media – will ensure continued TV coverage of the famous event.

A three-hour special, with extensive coverage of the 2004 event, will be broadcast on Sky Sports 1 on Monday, October 11.

It will feature highlights of the National Show Jumping Championships, the battle to become Leading Show Jumper of the Year and traditional favourites such as The Puissance.

Announcing the new deal, Sue Ashworth of Sky Sports said: “There is a great and enduring public affection for the Horse of the Year Show and it appeals to a wide audience. This year we will cover more equestrianism than ever before and devote three hours of prime-time programming to this prestigious event.”

John Jacks, chairman of the British Show Jumping Association, said: “The Association has worked with Sky Sports for over three years producing a variety of show jumping programmes. It is delightful that Sky Sports have recognised the Horse of the Year Show as a significant sporting occasion and have allocated a three hour programme to ensure the variety of entertainment the top show in Great Britain can offer is well televised.”
