Christian Horner, owner of F3000 champions Arden, has held talks with Eddie Jordan, the team’s major shareholder, according to the UK’s Daily Telegraph.
It follows stalled negotiations with the Maktoum dynasty in Dubai.
Horner, who launched Arden seven years ago to develop his own driving career, had been looking at bringing his team into Formula One in 2005 until the need for a £30 million bond forced a rethink.
But Jordan offers a ready-made infrastructure and is for sale at £50million, debt free.
F3000 is to be replaced by the new GP2 series next year, so Horner may also see this an ideal time to make the step up.
