Developed by mobile software specialists m-connected, the service enables UK mobile phone users to bet on any event from horse racing and football to athletics, and follows a successful pilot service with Stanleybet during Euro 2004.
“Stanleybet Mobile is a natural extension of our online betting service,” said Chris Brown, director of non-retail business. “We recognise that our customers might fancy a flutter when they don’t have access to the internet or a traditional betting shop, and Stanleybet Mobile allows them to check prices, manage their account and place a bet in the simplest way possible.”
Built using Java technology, Stanleybet Mobile is available on a wide range of mobile handsets, and uses dynamic GPRS connections to deliver real time odds and betting information to customers. It also provides full account management facilities, including withdrawal and deposit of funds and will support the placing of multiple bets, betting-in-running markets and the ability to select “favourites” from within the Stanleybet markets.
Customers can register online for the Stanleybet Mobile service and set up a betting account by visiting www.stanleybet.com. Download and use of the software, other than the standard data charges, is free.
“The popularity of internet betting is just a prelude to the impact of mobile betting, now that punters can use their mobile phones to bet wherever they are,” said Julien Parven, commercial director at m-connected. ”We have worked with Stanleybet to deliver a streamlined, effective and simple to use solution for customers on the move.”
