According to RUGBYeNEWS.com Islanders management - headed by former boss Charlie Charters - is alleged to have left the Alliance with debts of around NZ$100,000 ($65,630), a far cry from the NZ$850,000 ($557,860) profit this year's inaugural tour was supposed to generate.
With the proceeds of the three-match test series against the All Blacks, Wallabies and Springboks supposed to be distributed between PIRA partners Fiji, Tonga and Samoa, the playing future of the Islanders looks to be on increasingly shaky ground.
