Australia’s Herald Sun reports that Lyons, head of a paparazzi agency with offices in London, New York and Sydney, flew into Melbourne on Wednesday for talks with fellow directors of Melbourne United, which is bidding to join the about-to-be-formed Australian Premier League.
It's known that the Melbourne United syndicate has roped in leading Socceroos Mark Viduka and Josip Skoko, whose images will be used to lure the whole of Victoria, to get behind the team - the only Melbourne side in the APL.
Lyons, whose companies turn over $20 million a year, has identified soccer as the next big thing in Australia and is ready to sink considerable money into the venture.
But he refused to discuss figures when asked if the amount he was contributing was $1 million.
