ESPN drew a 1.0 rating for the final match between Andre Agassi and Lleyton Hewitt, reaching 873,000 homes.
It is more than double the audience the Cincinnati final got last year when Andy Roddick played Mardy Fish, and is the largest, non-Slam television audience for ESPN since the US versus Czech Republic Davis Cup tie in April 2000.
Overall, the week-long ESPN coverage of the Cincinnati tournament averaged 61 per cent more households than in 2003, an increase from 215,000 to 346,000.
ATPTennis.com continued its strong performance for the summer, eclipsing the previous highs for the year that had been set a week earlier during Tennis Masters Canada.
According to reports from Red Sheriff, a subsidiary of Nielsen, ATPTennis.com registered 831,833 user sessions for the week, beating the year-to-date high set in Toronto by 6,000.
There were 308,759 unique visitors for the week of the Cincinnati tournament, the most for 2004 by nearly 1,000.
