Schiller joins Security Summit speakers

Harvey Schiller, chairman of GlobalOptions Inc, a multidisciplinary international risk management and business solutions company, will deliver a keynote address at the International Sports Security Summit in London on October 27 and 28.

Schiller, who is based in New York, will examine the security issues facing sports and other major events in the US post 9/11 and the lessons to be drawn from the US experience.

There are few people with greater depth of knowledge of the US sports sector. He is acting chairman of the Management Committee for the NYC 2012 Olympic Bid Committee and a former executive director of the USD Olympic Committee.

Schiller’s extensive experience includes being chairman and CEO of YankeeNets, a sports conglomerate involving the New York Yankees, New Jersey Nets and New Jersey Devils, and a stint as vice president of sports programming for Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. (TBS). Schiller was also president of Turner Sports, Inc.

In December 1994, Schiller was awarded the prestigious Olympic Order, the highest decorated honor presented to an individual by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). He also worked directly in support of the planning and award of the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games to the city of Atlanta.
