Under the three-year package, Mitre will pay a royalty on every one of their footballs sold through club shops, designed to let fans put money directly into the clubs they support.
Mitre are also supporting The League chairman Sir Brian Mawhinney’s ‘Balls for Schools’ initiative by giving away 720 balls to be used to encourage youngsters to start playing the game.
‘Balls for Schools’ is a series of 72 regional competitions for schools. Mitre will donate 10 balls to each of the winning teams.
Sir Brian said: “I am grateful for the support they [Mitre] are giving to local communities through the ‘Balls for Schools’ initiative. By providing footballs in this manner Mitre and The Football League are doing what they can to keep the next generation fit and healthy.”
