New Telegraph backing for Cheltenham

The Daily Telegraph is to sponsor a two-and-a-half mile championship chase to be run for the first time at next year’s Cheltenham Festival.

The Daily Telegraph Festival Trophy will be worth £150,000 and will be a highlight of the third day in the four-day event.

Already an established sponsor – with its Leading Rider Award and Leading Trainer Award – Mark Nixon, marketing director of the Telegraph, said: “From all our key perspectives, marketing, editorial and commercial development, the Cheltenham Festival is an outstanding proposition.”
