DuPuy confident of Expos move

The long-running saga of the Montreal Expos Major league Baseball team is edging closer to a decision – but hopes of an announcement this month are fading.

Bob DuPuy, COO of Major League Baseball, said he remained confident the Expos would be in a new home by 2005 – but could not confirm when a final decision would be made.
A number of cities have expressed interest in attracting the franchise, and a decision had been expected later this month. It is thought that may now roll into next month.
Said DuPuy: “The sooner a final deal is struck the better. I do expect that to be made this summer. It is very important we get this done this year.”
The Expos have been owned by the league since 2002, since when a decision over a future home has always been just around the corner.
