Todt rules out FIA job

The head of Formula One team Ferrari says he does not want to replace Max Mosley as head of governing body the FIA.

Jean Todt had been touted as one of the favourites to replace Mosley who last week confirmed he would quit later this year.

But Todt says he is not interested in the job and says that he intends to see his existing contract with Ferrari through. It runs until the end of 2006.
Said Todt: “What would be my advantage to leave and work free of charge with people who can never find an agreement?"
Meanwhile, Bernie Ecclestone has told UK race circuit Silverstone it has until September to sort out a new deal to ensure it hosts the British Grand Prix after this year.

Ecclestone, who took over the promoter rights from the Interpublic Group earlier this year, said a new deal needed to be agreed ‘no later than September 30’.
