Greek FA president Vassilis Gagatsis says he believes the country’s bid would be boosted by hosting the Olympic Games this year.
Greece made a joint bid with Turkey for Euro 2008, but lost out to a joint bid from Switzerland and Austria.
Said Gagatsis: “We will hold talks with the state over a possible bid, but this time we will do so on our own.”
Euro 2004, taking place in Portugal, last night saw Greece qualify at the expense of one of the pre-tournament favourites, Spain. Hosts Portugal beat their neighbours 1-0 to join Greece in the quarter-finals.
As its national team celebrates qualification to the quarter-finals of Euro 2004, Greek soccer chiefs say they are considering a bid to host Euro 2012.
