WUSA score six

Its future may not yet be clear, but the WUSA has secured six blue-chip sponsors as the women’s soccer league looks to rise again in 2005.

It has signed deals with Coca-Cola, McDonald’s, AOL, Deutsche Bank, Under Armour Performance Apparel and adidas.

All will be commercial affiliates of the league in 2004 as the WUSA stages two soccer festivals to help whip up interest in the league’s return.
Said Mike Ritz, who heads up the WUSA's sponsorship efforts: “The WUSA Soccer Festivals are an important first step toward a relaunch of the league and the support of Coca-Cola, McDonald's, Under Armour, Deutsche Bank, AOL and adidas is key to the WUSA's future success."
The six brands will have first right of refusal for their categories for the league's planned relaunch in 2005.
The league was suspended last year due to a lack of commercial support.
