SA 2010 to hit tourism jackpot

South African tourism chiefs say hosting the FIFA World Cup 2010 could pump more than $3.5bn into the country’s economy.

South Africa becomes the first ever African country to host the event and says it expects to far surpass the $170m benefit of hosting the Cricket World Cup last year.

According to research conducted by tourism specialists Grant Thornton Kessel Feinstein, the FIFA event will prove a huge financial benefit to the country.
