Cricket Australia's new deputy

Creagh O’Connor has been appointed deputy chairman on the board of Cricket Australia.

Chairman Bob Merriman said Cricket Australia had not had a deputy chair since 2001 and had recreated the position to spread the strategic policy leadership load.
Said Merriman: “In the immediate period ahead, Cricket Australia’s board will be considering an unusually wide range of issues, including renewal of our memorandum of understanding with players, renewal of a number of major commercial contracts, and a range of international issues at the ICC board table.
“Directors felt it important to broaden our own team’s strategic issues leadership experience and Creagh O’Conner’s cricket administration and commercial experience stands him in good stead for this new role.”
O’Connor has been a Cricket Australia director for seven years, a South Australian Cricket director since 1990 and is a director of the Les Favell Foundation in Adelaide and is governor of the Bradman Memorial Fund along with Cricket Australia chairman Bob Merriman. He has served on Cricket Australia’s audit, remuneration and international committees.
Outside cricket, he is a director of a number of public and private companies.
