Hundreds of race fans turned out for the official opening at the weekend of the new Shanghai Formula One circuit.

The track will host China’s first Grand Prix on September 26, and is hoping to secure a number of high profile races to supplement its showpiece event.
The $325m, 5.45km circuit, will be able to welcome up to 200,000 spectators.
Former F1 racer Gerhard Berger took part in the opening activities, which included the circuit’s first competitive racing, in the China Circuit Championship.
