NFL target LA for 2008

It is one of the biggest US markets, but for the past ten years it has been NFL franchise-free – now commissioner Paul Tagliabue has committed to bringing a team back to Los Angeles within four years.

He says he wants a team back in the city no later than 2008.

The city has been without a team since the Rams quit to move to St Louis.

League chiefs have been in talks with a number of sites and investors keen to bring a team to LA.

Said Tagliabue: “We're hopeful we can stick to a timeline that would have us make some decisions on a stadium project maybe a year from now.”
