Thai deal agreed 'in principle'

English Premier League club Liverpool has agreed ‘in principle’ to sell 30 percent to Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra – but officially the deal will not be concluded until next month.

Thaksin is leading a group of Thai investors making a £65m investment in the English club.

Having signed a memorandum of understanding last week, the Liverpool board has finally reached a decision to sell, the Thai PM says.

Said Thaksin: “In principle, they agreed to give [the stake in the club] to us and now we are working on details. Things should be officially concluded next month.”
