After a weekend which saw wild celebration in South Africa, after it put the disappointment of failing to host the 2006 tournament behind it, by winning the right to host the 2010 event, some within soccer’s governing body are already thinking ahead.
With the 2010 tournament taking place in Africa, and the 2014 event scheduled for South America, the desire to bring the event back to Europe for 2018 – the biggest marketplace for the event – is gathering pace.
