LeFevre’s decision to retire comes just one month before he would have marked six years in the position.
He leaves on May 28.
Said LeFevre: “The journey has been unique and rewarding, from the professional relationships I have developed to the many programmes I have seen flourish. Figure skating has always been one of my life pursuits, and I am thankful for the opportunity I've had to bring US Figure Skating forward.”
Upon LeFevre's retirement, former US Figure Skating executive director Jerry Lace will serve as the interim executive director.
Lace was most recently director of marketing at US Figure Skating.
A search committee is being established to hunt for a long-term replacement.
The executive director of US Figure Skating, John LeFevre, has confirmed he is to step down from the role later this month.
