Reds edge close to deal

Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra could be told today his £65m bid for a 30 percent stake in English Premier League club Liverpool has been accepted.

The club board will continue to discuss the proposals put before them, a day after they appeared to reject a rival cash injection by minority shareholder Steve Morgan.

He offered to put £73m into the club. But the board said the scheme was ‘unattractive’.
