Blatter, who once ruled out making a bid for a third term, has recently changed his mind and made it clear he seeks a third term when he is next up for re-election in 2007.
Now Qatar’s Mohamed Bin Hammam has said should Blatter not decide to run, he would consider launching a campaign for power.
Said the AFC chief: “Of course I would be interested, provided I got the support of Asia and the Asian confederation. But for now I am supporting my friend Sepp Blatter’s desire for a third term…and I think he will go on for a third term.”
The president of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has said he may stand for election in the next FIFA presidential elections – but only if Sepp Blatter does not seek a third term.
