The Mates Formula Woman series has delayed its start, and amended plans for the inaugural season.
Series chiefs say the delay is necessary to provide ‘the girls with more testing time prior to their first race experience’.
The championship will now begin at Oulton Park on June 12, with a revised seven-round series, culminating with the final at Brands Hatch.
Commercial network ITV will carry races in the summer, although the schedule has yet to be announced.
Formula Woman is Britain’s first ever all-women motor racing series, with the grid of drivers selected through a nationwide search for talented, non-professional racers. The chosen 16 racers will drive specially prepared, identical Mazda RX-8s.
