Tunisia quits 2010 race

With a decision due next weekend, Tunisia has made the life of the FIFA Executive Committee a little easier, by withdrawing its bid to host the 2010 World Cup.

Tunisia had hoped to present a co-hosting proposal to FIFA’s ruling body along with Libya.

However, upon releasing the technical reports last week, FIFA once and for all ruled out any chance of a joint bid being accepted.

The withdrawal of Tunisia leaves a four-horse race, with South Africa hot favourites, followed by Morocco, Egypt and Libya.

The vote to decide on which African nation will host the first FIFA World Cup on the continent will be made on Saturday.
