Wallabies fly Qantas

Australian airline Qantas has signed a deal to become naming rights sponsor of the Wallabies.

The four-year deal extends through the Rugby World Cup 2007, and will see the team referred to as the Qantas Wallabies.
Said acting CEO of the Australian Rugby Union Matt Carroll: “We have had a high-level partnership with Qantas for over a decade, and their step up to naming rights sponsor is another indication of their strong commitment to rugby and rugby's value as a high profile international sport.

"With this new level of support from Qantas, the ARU can continue the extraordinary growth that the game is enjoying in Australian right now and very importantly keep the Wallabies at the forefront of international rugby.”

Although the terms of the sponsorship remain undisclosed, Carroll said the deal ensured the ARU's total sponsorship revenue was at an ‘all-time high’.
Meanwhile, tickets for the Qantas Wallabies rematch against their Rugby World Cup 2003 victors, England, sold out just minutes after going on sale this week.
