MLB teams up with MLS

A new division of Major League Baseball’s new media operation – focusing on sports other than baseball - has captured its first big deal.

Sports on Earth is a new company set up by MLB Advanced Media (MLBAM) – which runs MLB.com and the 30 club sites – designed to operate web ventures not ties to the sport.

It has been selected by Major League Soccer (MLS) to run the MLSnet.com internet network, comprising of the official league website and eight out of the ten team sites.
MLBAM and Sports on Earth will provide original editorial content, audio and video highlights, and design and technical support, as well as marketing and sales support.
Said Don Garber, commissioner of Major League Soccer: "This partnership represents a great opportunity to leverage MLBAM's online expertise and proven infrastructure to offer MLS fans the excitement of the game in the most effective and enjoyable presentation."
The new MLS network will offer fans live and archived audio of nearly every game in both English and Spanish as well as live and archived video of games.
