The Astri Group, a private equity investment firm that specialises in the health care industry, is owned by prominent Miami businessmen Carlos and Jorge de Cespedes. The brothers also own the $600 million Pharmed Group, the largest, minority-owned distributor of health care products in the US.
Said Jorge de Cespedes: "When we were presented with this exceptional opportunity, there was no doubt in our minds that we wanted to be part of Bob Johnson’s ownership group in Charlotte. And though becoming an owner of an NBA franchise was one of my childhood dreams, it is really the long-term vision that Bob has for the franchise and for how it will positively engage the Charlotte community that drove our decision to become involved.”
The terms of the deal have not been made public.
