WUSA banks on ticket success

Tickets for this summer’s two soccer festivals, organised to boost interest levels in the return of the professional women’s soccer league the WUSA, have gone on sale.

The WUSA is staging the events in Blaine, Minnesota, and Carson, California in June.

A planned third festival was shelved – with organisers blaming the proximity of any additional event to the Athens Olympic Games.

Should the festivals whip up enough interest – crucially from the corporate sector – the WUSA professional league will launch once more in 2005. It was forced to shut its doors last year due to dwindling commercial support.
