Israel home ban lifted

The UEFA Executive Committee has lifted the ban on home matches in Israel for all UEFA competitions.

The decision, made during the first of its two-day meeting in Limassol, Cyprus, is effective immediately, and follows a recent UEFA delegation visit to Israel.
Said a UEFA statement: “The UEFA delegation met with all the relevant security, police and ministerial bodies involved in security issues. Following a comprehensive presentation of all security measures in place, and with the recent reduction of terror incidents taking place in Israel, the delegation proposed to allow matches to take place in the country under specific conditions.
“These include that the games be played in the Tel-Aviv area only and that security guarantees be provided for every match. The Israel Football Association and its clubs must confirm in writing that these conditions are accepted prior to entry to any UEFA competition.”
UEFA said it would impose a ban on any match or matches in Israel at any given time if, in its opinion, the security situation should deteriorate.
