Tracks go all-weather

Two UK racecourses are set to get all-weather tracks after plans put before the British Horseracing Board were approved.

The BHB gave the seal of approval to the tracks at Newmarket and Sedgefield and said the pair can apply for all-weather races next year.

A similar application by Newbury was withdrawn and put on hold for a year.

The Newmarket track will cost £6m to build, Sedgefield £4m.

Both tracks, however, have cited concern over securing the fixtures next year required to make the investment worthwhile.
